1981 JASSI was established.
1989 JASSI attends the International Foundation on Aging at the United Nations.
1991 JASSI Tomo No Kai was established with 13 corporate membership.
1992 Survey conducted for a needs assessment among elderly Japanese and Japanese Americans.
1993 JASSI president, Midori Shimanouchi, receives the Outstanding Asian American Governor's Award from Governor Mario Cuomo.
1993 JASSI director, Cyril Nishimoto, was given the Asian American Role Model Award by Andrew Stein, President of the City Counsel.
1994 JASSI president, Midori Shimanouchi receives the Imperial Award, Order of the Sacred Treasure Gold and Silver Rays.
1995 Support groups formed for Kobe earthquake victims. Care packages were sent to Kobe.
2000 JASSI director, Mari Sakaji was given an award for distinguished leadership in the Japanese American Community by the New York City Comptroller.
2001 2002 After the September 11 attacks, JASSI forms a 9/11 support group and starts its 9/11 Services Program.
2003 JASSI was invited by the Japanese Ministry of Education to provide workshops on intervention for school age children.
2004 JASSI receives a Commendation from Japan's Foreign Ministry.
